Bind and Loose

This day was a hard day. I stayed with the Lord all day but I felt distracted by something I couldn’t put my finger on. I have come to understand that if I will step back and look at it from a spiritual perspective there is either warfare involved or demonic activity skulking about.

TUESDAY WAS LIKE THAT

It took me a while to identify it this time. It felt merely like I was disconnected. Most days I spend with Jesus and the Holy Spirit are calm and sweet even if it takes me most of the day to enter into His mind about a matter.

I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!

There was warfare involved. What the Lord showed me is that there is a lying spirit that is confronting our nation. It is across the board. The Lord wanted us to do spiritual warfare against it and bind it.

ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH BINDING AND LOOSING?

Matthew 16:13-19 (NKJV) ¹³ When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” ¹⁴ So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” ¹⁵ He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” ¹⁶ Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” ¹⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. ¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. ¹⁹ And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

CAESAREA PHILIPPI IS AN UNUSUAL PLACE

A few years ago my husband Wallace and I went to Israel. We went to the place that Jesus took His disciples when He taught them the principle of Binding and Loosing. What many may not know is that this place was the seat of pagan worship and thought to be the very entry way of hell. I thought it was interesting that Jesus would take them to the very place as an object lesson to teach them about the authority they had to stop darkness. But that is exactly what He did.

HOW DO WE BIND AND LOOSE?

If you decide to pray with us you will hear me bind and loose. I use my mouth and call it a lying spirit and I bind it. What does binding do? It stops the spirit that is behind the lie from having a full reign with the lie. That is the authority that we possess. Jesus gave us the keys of the kingdom just as he told Peter. Keys represent authority. I have authority over whatever I have keys to open.

BINDING AND LOOSING IS A VERBAL EXERCISE OF AUTHORITY

I say it out loud with the people of God and God backs us as we say to something, “I bind you in the name of Jesus!” Now I don’t do this recklessly. This is a corporate activity.

WE ARE NOT TO BE FOOLISH IN WARFARE

I have had people be foolish in the fight. In other words, they weren’t living as a sold out believer and yet thought they could play with authority and it got them in trouble. I could tell some stories!!!

ONE DAY I’LL DO A BLOG ON HOW TO WAR

But today I just recommend that you pray through the prayer time as we cry out for the nation and the church of the nation.

The Ways of the Lord

I spent the majority of the day trying to understand what He wanted for prayer. Of course I love starting out with worship and Word at the beginning of prayer because as we all know…He is worthy of it!

The thing that kept standing out to me all day was “the ways of the Lord”.

Of all the verses in the Bible, this may be the one that comes to you as well.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) ⁸“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. ⁹“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

I love to quote these verses! It makes me feel better when I think I miss it… which can certainly happen. After all, God is God and I am just…well, I am me and we know how “we” can look.

But as I read the whole chapter this is what I found. God is not scolding us because He is able to think WAY above us. (As God, we would expect that) The whole chapter is about how God was going to claim for His very own nations (gentiles, anyone not Jewish) for His very own people!

Can you imagine the Jewish people reading along in the Prophet Isaiah’s scroll or teaching it and BAM! There it is. I think that is why the disclaimer is put in there by God! They had to be having a real problem with that section so God throws in these verses.

Let’s read it again.

THIS REALLY STUCK IN MY HEART FOR PRAYER

If God could and would make a way for us…gentiles, what else is He willing to do that doesn’t even compute with us?

SO WE PRAYED OVER HIS WAYS IN DIFFERENT AREAS

It is important to know His ways.

It is important to walk in His ways.

We need to love his ways.

THIS WAS THE PART I LOVED!

We don’t stumble in the darkness. We have been given the help of the Holy Spirit. Look at this!

1 Corinthians 2:16 (NKJV) ¹⁶ For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

We prayed about KNOWING we have the mind of Christ. This tells me that we have the ability by the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to walk informed in His ways.

I hope you will pray through the Tuesday Night prayer time. Just insert your name or family or Church. You can know His ways and walk in them. You can trust God will do what He promises.

LET’S FINISH WITH THESE VERSES

Isaiah 55:10-11 (NKJV) ¹⁰“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, ¹¹So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
